Opening and closing a Conex container can look tricky, but once you know the steps, it’s simple. Here’s a quick guide on how to operate our storage units here in Murphy NC. Simply watch the video above or read below.
Take off any locks – make sure all padlocks or puck locks are removed.
Start with the right door – always open the right door first.
Lift the latch.
Pull the long arm of the handles slight up, toward you, and then all the way to the left..
Swing the door open.
Then open the left door - do the same steps as above, just swinging the arm to the right, and it will open.
Close the left door first – push it shut and lock the bars in place.
Then close the right door – shut it tight so it overlaps the left door. Put your locking arm in place.
Lock it up – put your padlock or puck lock back on to keep it secure.
Don’t force the doors—if it feels stuck, pull slowly and check the handles. These are special handles, if you swing them all the way opposite the door, it will pry it open for you with virtually no force.
Keep the hinges and bars clean so they open smoothly.
Always double-check your lock before you leave.
